Re the story abut a 12 hr wait at A & E.
I am 79-yrs-old and last week I tripped and fell onto the pavement. As I was close to my doctor's surgery, I called in asking to see nurse if possible.
I was immediately taken to a treatment room and a doctor checked me over. My face and left hand was cut and my right hand badly bruised and swollen. I was advised to attend A & E as soon as possible. One of the receptionists offered to take me in her own car. Within 40 mins I had my cuts cleaned and dressed. I then had X rays on face and right hand.
A temporary cast was fitted and an appointment made for further treatment four days later. On second visit I had metal splint fitted and have a third visit due next week. Thank goodness for the NHS. I would like to thank all concerned at Bolton Medical Centre. (Rupert Street) with special thanks to the young lady, Lisa, who went out of her way to take me to A & E.
Finally, thanks to staff at Royal Bolton Hospital. I was assessed, treated and back home within five hours.
