IT was good to read the letter (Tuesday, January 10) in support of Bolton Symphony Orchestra by Richard Silvester; a councillor who has many times shown his active support for local organisations and culture.
He draws attention our Viennese Concert on Saturday, January 28 at 7.30pm in the Victoria Hall. This is an unmissable traditional New Year’s concert, full of wonderful and well-loved music such that of Johann Strauss and Franz Lehar, with waltzes, polkas and other bon-bons from the glittering days of Vienna. The event is a real uplift from the dark days of Bolton’s January and February, and people always come out of this concert smiling and humming the great tunes.
Bolton Symphony Orchestra is one of the very finest non-professional orchestras in the country, and I warmly invite not only all our regular supporters, but also (and especially) those who have never been to one of our concerts to come along and experience the sheer delight of fine orchestral playing of this great and popular music.
You will also be hearing the music sitting in one of the finest concert halls in the North West; the Victoria Hall, a Bolton facility that has truly been a great asset to our whole community for over 100 years, and which many of us are working to support, so that it can continue to be the only large public hall in the town.
Do come and enjoy sparkling Vienna with us in the glorious Victoria Hall, performed by our very own orchestra.
Robert Aston
Chairman
Bolton Symphony Orchestra
