RAILWAY staff and management are often criticised be it for poor performance, overcrowded trains or the current unnecessary strikes. It is nice therefore to be able to offer a word of thanks and praise.
I refer to the decision of management at Bolton Trinity Street Station and more especially to the staff currently working hard to remove the huge amount of chewing gum which covers the station and platforms. The improvement is immediately visible on the overbridge and areas of the platform already cleaned.
It may seem a thankless task but talking to one of the staff undertaking the work it is being approached with enthusiasm and pride in the challenge. I just hope that travellers will appreciate these efforts and not ruin the clean-up by thoughtlessly throwing down their unwanted chewing gum.
To the staff involved I for one say “Thank you”.
