AN article in Monday’s edition gave information about an operetta which is being staged by The Operetta Company in Farnworth next week.

Unfortunately, this states that the show is on Saturday, March 11. In fact it runs from Wednesday, March 8, till Saturday, March 11, and I wouldn’t want readers to miss this superb operetta because they are unaware that it runs for four nights, not just one. It is “Pink Champagne”, which is in fact the well-loved opera “Die Fledermaus” under a different name, written by the great Johann Strauss, and containing some of his finest and well-known music, including The Blue Danube Waltz.

This is a semi-staged version with well-known principal singers acting and in costume supported by a static chorus, and with a fine small orchestra of regular players including several gifted young musicians studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. The gifted Artistic Director and tenor, Allen Christey, needs no introduction to people who attend local musical and dramatic productions and already appreciate his many high-quality performances and productions.

Performances start at 7.30pm in the comfortable theatre room of Trinity Methodist Church, Market Street, Farnworth BL4 8EX. Tickets cost from £8 including refreshments and can be reserved in advance by phoning 97599 951429.

It’s a wonderfully uplifting, joyous operetta, with great humour and memorable music. In a word, it’s fun!
