I AM duty bound to respond to Cllr Sue Haworth (Letters, February 28th, Scandal of our poor).

I write as a member of the Conservative Party. I enjoy politics and firmly believe that the government with Theresa May as Prime Minister are making a sterling effort on behalf of all UK residents in tackling the problems facing the country at the present time.

What I do like to see are effective government policies challenged rigorously by an effective opposition. Does Cllr Howarth think that this is actually occurring at the moment? We have an opposition (and I use the term loosely) headed by probably, the most incompetent leader of all time. Under Corbyn's watch Labour cannot even hold on to seats that have been voting for them for ever, even under the leadership of such stalwarts as Kinnock, I refer of course to the Copeland constituency.

And what does Corbyn offer by way of explanation for this disastrous performance, not his woeful incoherent left wing policies (that looked out of date 20years ago and which patently hold no appeal whatsoever in the 21st century) no it is the fault of the loyal hard working party members that failed to get his message across.

By failing to ditch Corbyn and his merry band last year, the Labour party have done the country a great disservice. The next general election is already a forgone conclusion with Theresa May set to lead a government with a majority in excess of 150, great news for me personally but not in the interests of the country as a whole.

So your ineffective bleating Cllr is the fault of no-one but you and your fellow party members, and please do not get me started on the leader of Bolton Council.
