MANY people will be very disappointed to say the least at the totally inadequate police response to a reported house burglary in the early hours of the morning in Over Hulton.

The response of a police spokesman in the Bolton News simply adds insult to injury by promising to meet the victims to discuss their concerns when what was needed was action at the time or reassurance that action was being taken. The statement that police 'investigate each report thoroughly and ensure all opportunities are explored' is clearly not true in this case.

How are forensic opportunities to be taken if nobody visits the scene or speaks to potential witnesses? One can understand that resources may be stretched resulting in inevitable delays but this case reeks of complacency and does nothing to allay concerns of local residents about this type of crime and what we may expect the police to do about it.
