THE void left in my life when Peter Kay announced that there would be no more Car Share episodes has been replaced by correspondence from Ian Greenhalgh.

Surely Jeremy Corbyn is writing to your paper using the pseudonym ' Ian Greenhalgh '.

The only plausible point that Ian makes is that this election could well be the last ever chance to vote for Labour in its present guise as a main stream political party.

Ian's letter takes the biscuit as a template, containing virtually every reason why people will reject Corbyn and his allies in the vote on June 8.

For Ian's benefit I can inform him that Labour's manifesto is 'pie in the sky' and simply that. The results of dreams don't just suddenly materialise, they have to be paid for — and preferably not by borrowing money that you cannot afford to repay within your means.

Putin must be sitting there rubbing his hands wishing for a Labour win when he reads Ian's missive. However Vladimir, that isn't going to happen.

When Ian returns to the real world he will wake up on June 9 with Theresa May as his Prime Minister and she will pursue realistic policies based upon sound economic principles .

Having said all of the above I must thank Ian for a bit of light relief in what is a most important and serious campaign which will have far reaching consequences for the population of this country.
