I WRITE following the conference of the Labour Party. The smugness of the Corbyn wing of the party was astonishing beyond belief. What does he and his cronies, not understand about their resounding defeat at the General election.

The Labour party was soundly beaten by the Conservatives, having received fewer votes and fewer seats. Many younger voters voted for Corbyn in the belief that they would have their student debts wiped out whereas immediately after the election he rapidly back tracked and explained that no such promise had been made but that the issue would be looked at in the future.

It is the same with all the outrageous spending plans that were mentioned in the election, they will simply not happen as they cannot be afforded without bankrupting the country.

Again the controlling nature of the hard left meant that delegates were not able to properly examine the Party's position in relation to Brexit. No one understands what the Labour position in relation to Brexit is as there is no policy apart from trying to cause the government problems for no other reason than for political gain without regard as to what is in the country's best interests .

At the conference Corbyn and McDonnell admitted that they were looking into what action to take following the expected run on the pound in the unlikely scenario that a Labour Government came to power.

All in all the prospect of a Corbyn led Government should fill us all with dread. Hopefully it will not happen.
