THERE are real concerns across Bolton West at the increase in crime and anti-social behaviour.
A few weeks ago Chris Green, the Tory MP for Bolton West, told The Bolton News that he had asked the Home Secretary for more police in the constituency, so his voters might have expected that he would “put his money where his mouth is” when he is in Westminster.
On Wednesday he had the chance to make a difference with his vote, but instead he voted for real-terms cuts to police budgets.
Nationally we have lost more than 21,000 police officers since 2010 and across Greater Manchester we have lost 1,911 police officers and 236 PCSOs.
It is no wonder crime is on the increase and we are feeling less safe in our communities.
The problems are compounded by Tory cuts to other public services like the loss of youth centres and youth workers who provided guidance and gave young people positive things to do.
A Labour Government would invest in our public services and would put 10,000 more police officers on our streets.
