HERE we go again with developers wanting to build houses on our green spaces.
In this case, it is Eden Land, 250 houses on the recreation ground near Hulton Lane playing fields.
This is a constant onslaught of our green belt land, when there are enough brownfield sites to develop in the town.
Surely it is time to say enough is enough.
We have over development in Horwich, Westhoughton, and now Peel Holding's application for the Hulton Estate.
Bolton Council must protect our green spaces for the benefit of Bolton folk.
In the case of Hulton playing fields, this has facilitated many football games, as well as rounders. I have played many a football match on the pitches on this field in years gone by.
It is still much used by residents who take their children there in the warmer months to kick a ball about, or play a game of cricket, or just sit on the grass enjoying the outdoors.
We must not lose this much-valued piece of green space and recreational facility.
It is beneficial to community public health and well being now, and for the future.
Of course we need affordable social housing, but brownfield sites are the place to build.
Bolton Council must stem the tide of developers making profit while we are losing open spaces.
