IN the US, as many people are killed in motor vehicle incidents as are killed in gun incidents.

It’s been said of arming US teachers anonymously to stop gun massacres that: “it will add an extra layer of protection”.

To reduce deaths from motor vehicle incidents we are moving towards driverless cars, ie"adding an extra layer of protection".

A fortnight ago, a pedestrian pushing a bicycle was killed by a driverless car in Texas.

So much for added protection. It doesn't protect the most vulnerable.

People who go on killing sprees are mentally disturbed.

If they can’t kill with guns, they will find some other way — buy a kilo of fentanyl off the internet, and spike everyone’s drink in a nightclub.

Let’s be honest, the human race is being driven round the bend, not least by car/computer dependency; the unaffordable cost of living/studying, and the increasing demands on young people to work their backsides off to succeed.

Not to mention having to work until you drop.

The solution to killing sprees, and indeed suicide, is surely to identify the cause of mental illness. Otherwise, so-called progress will only mean that, people that want to kill, (bring down the system), will simply use their ingenuity, (even genius' and world leaders can lose it), to find some other way.

Hasn’t the internet made terrorists an unbeatable foe?

And, isn't global warming even more unbeatable?

Also, by banning the trade in ivory, the poachers will simply find another way to feed their kids; buy them a smartphone, and give them a good education.
