MAY I take this opportunity to thank the hundreds and hundreds of people who came to the Eagley Band and Smithills Community Music Gala Concert in aid of the Christie Hospital on Saturday night in the Victoria Hall.
What a very, very special night it was once again.
I cannot thank the magnificent performers or huge audience enough for creating a truly special atmosphere and special thanks must go to Robert Aston, John Kearns and Jeff Hartley, who were superb in their varied contributions.
While it will take some time for the treasurers to establish the huge cheque which will be sent to Christie’s Hospital, it is safe to say that in 35 years we have never collected so much money on the night of a concert from programme sales, raffle and donations and when all of the ticket monies and advertising have been totalled up, I believe the hospital will be thrilled with the result.
Sincere thanks to The Bolton News and staff of the Victoria Hall for such wonderful support as ever with regard to Saturday night’s amazing evening and here’s to July 7, when we do it all again!
