HERTHA Berlin's powerful Serbian international Marko Pantelic is reported to be the striker Wanderers bid £7million for in the transfer window.

Sources at the German club claim they turned down a substantial offer for Pantelic, who has scored 32 goals in 77 Bundesliga appearances, and are likely to ask big money again if Gary Megson goes back in for him in the summer.

It could only happen here! Bolton say they made a bid for Leroy Lita, Reading say they didn't. Hertha Berlin say Bolton made a bid for Pantelic, no comment from Bolton.
Once again Bolton display a complete lack of courtesy towards their supporters.

How dare they not keep you informed Bill.

Next you'll be telling me that Megson's not informed you of his starting line-up for Madrid yet!

Bolton never said they bid for Lita, the press named 3 or 4 strikers and then assumed it was Lita.

Andy, I think both you and Pete will find that in trying to appease the supporters Mr Megson did say he had made a bid for Leroy Lita whilst omitting to mention that Chelsea had been negotiating to sign Anelka for two months with Bolton, of course, making no effort until the end of the transfer window to find a replacement.
As for your cheap jibe, about the line up for the Madrid game, rearrange this truism; " is lowest wit form the sarcasm the of".

"Was Pantelic a Bolton Target" is that not what Gordon Sharrock is paid to try and find out rather than asking us. how about gordon, "Pantelic was a bolton target" or "Pantelic wasnt a bolton target"

Bill, Bolton is a private company and we have absolutely no right to know about private business.

We know the players we have actually signed. Any more is just rumour.

The unfortunate thing for you is that you seem to believe anything you read in the papers is fact.

Pantelic....... 29 years old journeyman who has played for 10 clubs. He was offered to chelsea 2 years ago by his agent for 2.5 million. Chelsea said no !!!! He has had a good season and scored 9 goals. Does this mean his value has trebled ? I don't think so.

We have time to review how we scout players and look at when we play them. Adebayor signed in 2006 for around 3 million. Wenger saw the talent and started easing him into the side. Age does not matter. If you have skill, pace and a work ethic, then the only thing that makes someone a premiership player is PLAYING IN THE PREMIERSHIP. At BWFC we have had players labelled as "one for the future" and only ever see them as an occasional sub or in minor cup games. We are starting to put together a squad of quality players that arn't over 30.

We have had brilliant world class players at the end of their careers that have moved this club forward and they were legends that will never be forgotten. That was then and those times are gone. We have also been recently had an influx of "squad" players who should not be at this, or any other premiership club.

It looks like we are beginning to get ourselves out of that situation and the only way forward now for a club as small as ours is to buy younger players that have already been identified as having the quality, but who's values have not yet gone through the roof.

We know we'll probably lose them if they turn out to be world class, but that is the reality for a club like ours. Provided that contracts are stacked in our favour when we get them, then funds to replace quality will always be available.

Whilst agreeing with your general point Fernando about Pantelic being over priced, every player in the ridiculous transfer window is overpriced. He's actually played at five clubs as an adult plus two loans to other clubs. Also in three years he's scored 32 goals in 75 appearances for Hertha and given that inevitably some of those appearances will be as sub that's a good strike rate.
