Heavy traffic is reported on the M61 southbound as thousands of Scottish football fans head into Manchester for the Uefa Cup Final.

Up to 100,000 Glasgow Rangers fans are expected in the city for the match with Zenit St Petersburg at the City of Manchester Stadium tonight.

Although the two clubs have been allocated just 13,000 tickets each for the 44,000 capacity ground thousands of Rangers fans are heading south to sample the atmosphere.

Many hotels in the Bolton area have filed No Vanacies signs as the mass invasion spills over into outlying areas.
