YOU would be forgiven for thinking that these little balls of fluff are teddy bears — but they are actually pedigree rabbits.

Mum-of-four Danielle Gajra, aged 29, has travelled the country far and wide for her 11 "babies" and says she would like to enter them into rabbit shows in the future.

The dwarf lionlops have either a single or double mane and will not weigh much more than two or three pounds each.

Ms Gajra, from Halliwell, started her family of lionlops after her daughter Imani, aged five, developed eczema and could not play with dogs or cats.

She said: "They've only been around for about five years. They're a new breed and I've travelled as far as Essex to pick them up. Imani loves playing them — they rarely malt so her eczema is not affected.

"They're like little teddy bears — they're so fluffy and soft. But personality wise, they're more like a cat or a dog. They'll follow you around rather than being scared and timid like most rabbits.

"I keep them all in their own shed which has electric heating and they have a run and tyres filled with grass and soil so they get plenty of exercise."

Despite being pedigrees they do not cost a lot of money.

Ms Gajra added: "They only cost about £45 so they're not too expensive. People are often shocked by that. They don't cost too much to keep either — just some hay, food and fruit and they're perfectly happy."
