THIS atmospheric photograph shows women in Moss Bank Park in Bolton in 1959.
Just look at those lovely prams!
The larger versions were known as coach built prams and were sturdy enough to withstand the long walks most mothers and fathers would take their children on in those days — few families would have cars so it was common-place to walk everywhere with the baby.
This is a lovely, peaceful scene and the little boy on his tricycle obviously realises a photograph is being taken for the Bolton Evening News and is determined to get in on the action.
Moss Bank Park has, for many years, been a popular spot for families. Its open grassland and children's play area made it an idea place to take the children in the school holidays and it is still as popular today as it always was.
The rock garden was recently renovated, much to the delight of older Boltonians who remember it well.
