THESE lovely women are off for a week end trip to Majorca.

It would have been quite an event in 1972 when this photograph was taken by one of our photographers at The Bolton Evening News as travelling abroad was not as common place as it is today.

So imagine how exciting it would be for these workers of Qualrayn Rainwear Manufacturers of Little Hulton who are flying out for a short break on one of the Spanish islands?

Hopefully they would not need any of the rainwear they manufactured.

Workers' trips were very popular in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s but most would be trips to places such as Blackpool or Southport and certainly not involving a trip on a plane.

Were you one of the women looking forward to what you called a "picnic weekend" or perhaps you remember the days out or weekends away with your workmates?

If you have memories to share contact Gayle McBain on 01204 537269 or email gayle.mcbain@nqnw.co.uk as we would love to hear about the outings you went on and how popular they were with the workers who enjoyed them.
