THESE students look suitably interested in the lesson in dough making they are enjoying at Warburton's Bakery.

The event took place at the Back o'th' Bank bakery in May 1962 and the girls were from Westhoughton County Secondary School.

They were taking part in a special tour of the bakery and learning all about how bread was made.

The hair styles and clothes help date the photograph but today the machinery used to help in the dough rising process will be far more technical no doubt.

School trips are a useful way for students to find out about local businesses and here we have a local business that has most certainly stood the test of time.

The family business is still going strong today and there will be very few readers who have not enjoyed a slice of Warburton's bread at some point in their lives.

Do you have any memories of working for other local family owned businesses?

If so get in touch with Gayle McBain on 01204 537269 or email gayle.mcbain@nqnw.co.uk and share those memories as we would love to hear them.
