WHEN we discovered this gorgeous photograph in our archives we thought it should be used in our daily Looking Back feature.

It would be wonderful if we could track down any of the children pictured here and find out what they were doing on this particular day — it was Friday June 15 in 1962.

The venue for the photograph is what was called Bluebell Forest in Astley Bridge and we are also hoping readers can enlighten us about this particular pretty forest scene.

Where was Bluebell Forest and how did it get its name? — presumably it was filled with bluebells.

Does it still exist and if so do people still enjoy a walk in the forest as these youngsters appear to be doing?

We would love to hear from you if you can tell us anything about this photograph.

If so do get in touch with Gayle McBain on 01204 537269 or email gayle.mcbain@nqnw.co.uk

Our readers are so knowledgeable about Bolton and its surrounding districts so we know you will have plenty of information to share.
