MEET Mr Arthur Bean – a real ladies' man with quite a tale to tell.

Two-year-ago, he was living as a stray in the grounds of St Anne’s Hospice in Little Hulton for six months with another cat called Annie.

Christine Hart, adopted four-year-old Arthur and soon learned his former name – as well as his naughty secret.

“Two years ago, as the weather turned colder I decided to take him in and give him a warm home.

“A nurse from the hospice gave Annie a home,” said Christine, 32.

“When we took Arthur to the vets, we found that he was microchipped and registered as Mr Bean. “His previous owners did not want him and signed him over to me. Due to his microchip information, we renamed him ‘Arthur Bean’.”

And then Arthur got some more good news – he was a father!

“Not long after, Annie had a litter of four kittens, which were the spitting image of Arthur Bean. The nurse also kept all of the kittens, and the cats all exchange Christmas presents.”

No Arthur is enjoying the company of another feline at home in Bromley Cross.

“Arthur is very loving and lives with a second cat, Rosie, who we got a year ago. She was a rescue cat from Bleakholt animal sanctuary.

“Rosie was kept in isolation for six months as she was beaten up by the other cats in the pens, even in the golden oldies pen.

“She was very timid for around six weeks, but when we brought her home, Arthur was very gentle and patient. Gradually she learnt to trust him and they are now firm friends.

“Arthur loves watching TV and will often sit like a person to get a better view. He is also very greedy and eats everything in sight – which is why he weighs a hefty 16 pounds.”
