THERE is something incredibly nostalgic about this photograph but equally we can all recognise, at a glance, where it was taken.

For anyone who doesn’t know this is Manchester Road in Bolton at the end closest to the town centre rather than Burnden.

Unfortunately we do not know the date this photograph was taken and we are hoping some of our readers can help us with this.

We feel sure the vehicles, particularly the style of bus, will help date it.

The lay out of this road has changed very little over the years but in the last decade Manchester Road is not used for the same purpose it was when Burnden Park — the home of Bolton Wanderers — was situated at one end.

In those days thousands of fans would walk the length of Manchester Road, from the town centre, to Burnden Park for matches.

The area was a hive of activity and a traditional route for the fans to take on a Saturday afternoon.
