WE thought there would be at least three people who might be interested to see this photograph from 1990.
Pictured left to right are Marie Simm, Ian Bunney and Lisa Lambert who were all Roteract members taking part in Turton Rotary Club’s village fair.
Pirates of all ages and sizes headed for the Last Drop Village in Bromley Cross for a fiesta of fun and frolics over a weekend.
Fresh winds and dreary clouds failed to dampen spirits as 12,000 people, many in pirate costumes, flocked to the village.
Topping the bill was television celebrity Rustie Lee while two huge marquees hosted a variety of charity and craft stalls as well as a dog show, which attracted a bumper entry in this particular year.
Other attractions at the fair included a children’s playground, a vintage car display, a group of morris dancers strutting their stuff and miniature motorbike rides.
Fairs are very popular in the Bolton area and continue to prove hugely popular today.
Look out for more fair memories in Looking Back soon.
