WHEN it comes to roads in the Bolton area that have changed very little then we think this one is probably ideal to mention.

As you can see this is the road leading down to Scholes Bank from The Crown at Horwich and it is seen in this photograph in 1952 although we do not think it looks very different today.

We have featured this area in Looking Back in recent weeks and received many memories from readers but are happy to receive more and feature it in a future edition again.

We know this area has a rich history and we also know that many of you are very fond of this particular part of Horwich.

We particularly love the finger-post direction sign pointing the way to Bolton, Wigan and to Chorley.

This photograph was taken to show the new safety lay out of Scholes Bank apparently with its circular island and pretty flowering plants.
