AS a member of Bolton’s housing committee Councillor Tom Mulligan was used to the problem of finding houses for people back in 1980.

But this project was a massive headache for him apparently as he had to find people for a house.

The house was on the corner of School Street and Hough Lane in Bromley Cross, Bolton and when this photograph was taken it had been lying empty for more than two years.

During that time it had been set on fire three times and vandalised repeatedly and Councillor Mulligan was trying to trace the owners of the house.

This part of Bromley Cross had changed very little over the years and the village has always been a very popular place for people to live.

It has grown with the building of new properties but has managed to retain its village feeling.

We would love to know more about the history of Bromley Cross.
