THIS week we wanted to feature a town that we know many of you are very familiar with.

Here we see Little Lever in two pictures taken in the same year.

Both photographs were taken in 1965.

In the top picture we can see a bus shelter which appears to have been made of wood and offers very little protection from the elements and prams which look nothing like the modern contraptions we see today.

It seems that Little Lever was a busy little town and, no doubt, folk did all their shopping locally rather than travelling in to Bolton Town Centre.

We can see Bolton Savings Bank and several small shops including one selling hardware.

This was a time before huge supermarkets and families shopped locally getting a personal service when they bought their goods.
