THIS old photograph was submitted by one of our “older” readers.

The woman, in her nineties, had, in her possession, this postcard photograph showing a town centre hotel, called the Silver Vat Hotel.

She would love to find out more information about its date and history and if any readers have any stories to tell about it.

The woman standing in the doorway, on the left on the photo, is her grandmother.

The hotel was close to where Marks and Spencer stands today but we do not know any more about it.

As the Bradshaw reader who submitted it is 92-years-old and her grandmother is on the picture it was obviously taken either early in the 20th century or even in the late 19th century.

What we are pretty sure of is that some of our readers will know something about it and be able to help the reader — who does not want to be named — piece together its history.
