A CAT care centre is in desperate need of a new volunteer co-ordinator to oversee its work and help even more local cats.

Cats Protection’s Bolton & Radcliffe branch, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, rehomes unwanted cats, promotes neutering and provides cat care advice to the public.

In order to drive forward its work even more the centre needs to recruit a coordinator to lead a dedicated team of 20 volunteers.

Caroline Burden, Cats Protection’s regional development manager, said volunteering for the charity was a great way to meet new friends and learn new skills.

She said: “The Bolton & Radcliffe branch has been very active in the area over the past 20 years and has helped scores of cats in that time.

“From helping people find their perfect pet to providing information about the neutering of cats, the branch provides a vital local service.

“There’s already a very dedicated team of volunteers at the branch, so the new co-ordinator will have lots of support already in place.

“This is an exciting time for the branch as it will shortly be investing in new cat pens and a new van, which will enable it to help even more cats.

She added that like all positions at the branch, the role is voluntary but by sparing just a few hours a week, people can make a huge difference to needy cats.

“We are sure whoever takes on the role will find it incredible rewarding,” said Caroline. “It’s also a great way to make new friends-both human and feline.”

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading cat charity and the Bolton & Radcliffe branch is part of a nationwide network of over 250 volunteer-run branches. The charity say their vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness.
