THIS week we feature a pet not often seen on the Animal Magic page – rats.

Former Bolton University student, Louisa Marshall, got in touch with some pictures of these three watching a cooking class!

“While making pancakes with my children I made a separate one and used a tiny pastry cutter to cut out miniature pancakes,” explained Louisa, 38.

“The rats are now 17 months old and we’ve had them since they were around six weeks old.

“They’re all very different in looks and personality and are very intelligent.

“Spot, who is agouti and white, is what you would call an average-looking rat. He’s very easy going, very big and loves his food.

“Muffin is a Double Rex and has barely any fur and curly whiskers. He is comical, highly strung and rules the other rats, the cage, and us.

“Lastly there’s Peanut Butter or Peebs, who is white and fawn. Peebs is the baby of the rats and is the smallest.

“Rats make fantastic pets. Unfortunately their life span is quite short. Because of this we try and celebrate everything we can with our rats and involve them as much as we can.”
