THIS picture was taken when fun fairs were all the rage in Bolton.

If there was a celebration to be had then a fair would descend on the town, often near to the town centre.

All sorts of rides would be on hand for families to enjoy as well as a coconut shy, various side stalls and stands selling candy floss.

These were very gentle times when entertainment was family-led and enjoyed outdoors.

This particular fair was held in the town centre in 1973 although we are not sure of the date.

It would be fantastic if we could track down the young boys who are enjoying the fast-moving ride here.

We know who they are.

We can see (left to right): Graham Parkinson, who was 16 and lived in Clarence Street, Bolton, Derek Fletcher, aged 15, of Priory Place in Bolton, Anthony Greenwood, who was 11 and Christopher Owen who was also 11 and both boys lived in Athlone Avenue, Bolton.
