THESE two streets were situated close to Bolton town centre and are seen here in the 1950s.

The top photograph shows Bullock Street, which was off Folds Road, and was apparently one of Bolton’s shortest streets.

Its beginnings went back to the early 1800s and this picture was taken in around 1954.

We believe it no longer exists.

The other photograph, taken in about 1950, shows Waterloo Street between Blackburn Road and Folds Road.

Waterloo Street is still there but is no longer a residential area.

The houses have now disappeared and the church, St James’s, closed in 1962 and was demolished five years later.

Do you remember this area from the fifties?
