THESE photographs show a town where the market was once a focal point of life.
This is Farnworth Market in the 1960s and a salesman is busy explaining to the gathered crowd the benefits of whatever it is he is selling.
Farnworth Market was a lively hive of activity in the 1960s, 70s and even 80s, but sadly has been confined to the history books now as many traditional markets have — although Bolton Market is still a vibrant shopping venue.
As we can see in the other picture times changed and the smaller photograph was taken shortly before the market closed.
