DAUBHILL is just one of those areas in Bolton that has an interesting place name which outsiders often struggle to pronounce.

Phonetically it poses quite a problem but as most Boltonians know you rarely pronounce any of Bolton's small districts phonetically.

There was a time when Daubhill had a life of its own. It was not simply a district of Bolton it was almost a village all of its own. It had its own distinct identity and the people of Daubhill were proud of their heritage.

Here we can see Daisy Street in Daubhill both in 1978 and in a more recent image. The view has changed very little even though the district has changed considerably over the years.

It looks a peaceful little street where householders can be seen walking along a pedestrianised roadway — apparently this improvement was carried out in 1978 and will have, undoubtedly, made a massive difference to the residents who will surely have benefitted from the removal of passing vehicles from their front doors.

Do you live in Daubhill? Perhaps you remember a time when Daubhill was a thriving hub of activity, when you hardly needed to travel to Bolton for anything as you had everything you needed right on your doorstep. Or perhaps you lived or still live in Daisy Street.

If so we would love to hear from you.
