TODAY’S Looking Back photograph shows a street scene most readers will be familiar with and know immediately.

It is, of course, Great Moor Street in Bolton town centre, seen in a picture taken in March, 1960.

Many of our older readers will recall when this part of town looked like this.

Great Moor Street was filled with individual shops including Pioneer Carpets and a furnishing shop next door.

We would love to know what the other shops were.

It is a very busy scene and was clearly a part of town well frequented by shoppers back in the 1960s.

Today’s scene would not show so many cars or pedestrians and the motorbike we can see heading across the road from Newport Street definitely would not be able to do that today as Newport Street is a pedestrian only zone.

If you have any memories of Great Moor Street do get in touch.
