THESE two photographs show well known routes into Bolton town centre that have changed over the years since the pictures were taken.

One picture was taken at the junction of Chorley New Road and Chorley Old Road back in June 1974.

As you can see the junction looks very similar today although the pub is no longer in use and there is now a health centre and chemist shop on the right.

The other image is not quite as easily recognisable.

This was taken in the early 1960s and we see the junction of Deane Road and Moor Lane and Derby Street.

The site where the demolition is in progress is now occupied by the Fire Station as well as a housing development.

The road junction has been improved and probably them most obvious change is that the University of Bolton is now in this area.

The cars in this picture give away the date it was taken as well as the road signs and what could now be described as vintage street furniture.

Things have changed so much in Bolton town centre and beyond and these two photographs are just two examples that we found.
