SERIOUS faces stare at the camera as these workers prepare for the day ahead.
Perhaps they were told not to smile or may be they just were not happy in their work.
These women and men were working for the Bolton branch of the Provincial Insurance Company back in January 1954 although where the office was we are unsure.
Perhaps some of our readers can help with that or perhaps you worked there — we would love to know.
Times were very different in the fifties as this was an age before computers or even florescent lighting.
There are no electrical devises in sight and mountains of paper work on the desks.
It is also a very busy office with lots going on.
Do you have memories of working in an office in Bolton in the 1950s?
If so we would love to hear from you.
