HERE we see a well known area of Bolton town centre in a picture taken in 1957.
It was taken in Churchgate, not far from the market cross, looking down Deansgate.
This part of the centre has always been popular both for its historical significance and also because of the smaller independent shops that have been situated there.
Churchgate is one of the oldest parts of Bolton.
