A POSING parrot that lent a hand to sell a house in Blackrod proved to be a big success, with the property selling and getting more than 100,000 views online.

As featured in the Bolton News in March, house hunters came in for a bit of a shock when in pictures of the three-bedroom, semi-detached house was a giant bird, striking a pose in each room.

The listing for the property in, Boardman Street, Blackrod, proved a smash hit and the extra interest clearly worked, with the house now having sold, subject to contracts.

Online property website RightMove has revealed that the property is the most viewed on its site so far this year, getting more than 120,000 hits in the process.

The house was listed for £225,000 by Estate agents Platinum Properties, in Winter Hey Lane, Horwich.

Steve Laycock, who runs the business, said that the owner was ‘up for a laugh’ so the parrot was used to generate some extra interest.

The property fought off some very strong competition to be RightMove’s most viewed, with the top ten also featuring a £16million house with its own bowling alley and cinema room, a historic church and a number of mansions.

A property on a tranquil island, a historic tower and a quaint doll's house also made the top ten.
