KEEN knitters have celebrated the Olympics by creating woollen Olympic rings.
The group of women at Parkview House Care Home in Chingford Mount Road, Chingford, who form the Nitty Nora’s Club, knitted the blue, black, red, yellow and green rings in time to launch their own party to mark the start of the Games.
Manager Ann Crane said: “It’s brilliant, they knitted a Union Jack for the Jubilee too and they take a lot of pleasure out of it. It shows that everyone is celebrating the Olympics in their own way, it’s such a great event which everyone enjoys.”
The knitters can now admire their handiwork, which hangs in reception, as they get down to the business of supporting Team GB athletes bidding for glory this summer.
