AROUND 400 jobs have been lost at bed retailer The Sleep Depot after it was put into administration today.
All 367 staff at Sleep Depot's head office in Blackburn and its one hundred in-store concessions across the UK have been laid off with immediate effect, administrator Kroll said.
The collapse, which came after the failure of a refinancing plan, also leaves an estimated 4,000 customers with outstanding orders. Those who placed their order on or after March 2 have been promised a full refund.

The move sees the immediate closure of more than 70 Sleep Depot concessions in Land of Leather stores, including one at Middlebrook Retail Park, plus 31 at curtain retailer Paul Simon, and nine independent Sleep Depot stores.
Kroll said The Sleep Depot has operated a trust account since March 2 into which customer deposits have been paid. Those customers who were cash buyers before this date are unlikely to secure a refund, the administrator added, while those who paid by credit card may be afforded protection through their card provider.
Customers affected by the closure have been given a helpline number to call for more information - 0161 838 4539.
