Apprenticeship numbers rise

THE number of people completing apprenticeships in Bolton more than doubled in the last few years.

New figures show that there were 693 people completing them in 2005/06 compared to 293 in 2002/03.

Bolton North-east MP David Crausby said: "It is wonderful news that the number of people completing apprenticeships has risen so much in recent years.

"Apprenticeships are great opportunities to get a foot on the career ladder, learn new skills and gain qualifications in a range of industries from engineering to media.

"I know that businesses locally in Bolton will be reaping the rewards of training apprentices."
