AS the centenary of Bill Naughton’s birth draws nearer, one of the highlights of the celebrations is the Octagon theatre’s revival of Rafta Rafta, Ayub Khan-Din’s reworking of the classic All In Good Time. Kat Dibbits talks to the playwright to find out just what he thinks is so special about Naughton and his work.

FROM annotated drafts of the scripts for Alfie and Spring and Port Wine to a series of imposing looking metal boxes containing his diaries, painted with the grand title W.J.Naughton and strictly not to be opened until 2015, the Bill Naughton archive at Bolton Museum is a treasure-trove for Naughton enthusiasts.
