A SINGER-songwriter, whose music video stars Bolton actress Maxine Peake, will perform his new album at a gig tomorrow.

Chris Flynn will appear at The Lowry, Salford Quays, with guest musicians, following a string of sell out gigs in 2013.

He said: “We’re really looking forward to it.

“When we’ve played recent venues, we’ve been selling out.

“There was a sense that we wanted to try and see if we could attract a larger audience.

“The Lowry, I’ve always wanted to play there.

“We gave them a ring and they agreed to put on a show.

“It’s not necessarily the biggest, in terms of festival gigs and numbers, there’s been more.

“I think it’s a great gig because we are attracting an audience in our own right.”

He has also been attracting new fans thanks to the release of Pandora earlier this year, starring popular Silk and Shameless actress Maxine in the title role.

She agreed to appear in the bittersweet music video after hearing the track.

Chris, who played last year’s Ramsbottom Festival, said: “We had a fantastic response to that.

“There’s been thousands of views on YouTube.”

Taking inspiration from kitchen sink playwrights, such as Farnworth’s Jim Cartwright, and musicians including Tom Waits, Elvis Costello and The Smiths, Chris has played with many bands across the North West.

He said: “I’ve been doing music for most of my life.

“I‘ve always been in bands, from a very early age.

“This is the most successful of the lot of them so far.

“My sound is predominately acoustic but that’s not to say we are folk music.”

Now Chris, who lives in Salford, hopes to build on his success and play more venues, further afield.

He said: “You never know where you will be in 12 months.”

Chris Flynn, with special guest Little Sparrow, will be at The Lowry, Salford Quays, tomorrow at 8pm.
