A HOUSE music fan is bringing the sounds of superclub The Haçienda to Prestwich.

Kamran Maqbool is organising a night of classic piano tunes and tracks from the late ‘90s and early 2000s.

The first Prest Rewind will be at the Carlton Club, Bury Old Road, Prestwich, on Friday, July 25.

As well as tunes heard during the heyday of the Manchester nightspot, which closed in 1997, there will also be club classics which Kamran and his pals partied to at The Zoo, North, Sankey's Soap and Birmingham’s Miss Moneypenny's.

Kamran, aged 36, from Prestwich, said: "I wanted to put something on locally.

"I don't have kids but a lot of my friends do.”

In recent years, Bop Local events have been proving popular in the area and Kamran decided to host his own, where people can enjoy a night out without having to go into the city centre.

Kamran, who went to Prestwich High School, said: “A lot of people that are a bit older like that kind of music.

"Bop Local is a really good night.

"Shangri La, that's a brilliant night. That's been my favourite one, it's a mix of quite a few different things.

"Prest Rewind will be classic house music, rolling back the years.

"I only just got the cusp of the Haçienda and other nightclubs started coming through.

"It will be older Haçienda classics going through. We're not really going past the 2000s.”
