THERE is one tribute band that does not need any Help bringing Beatlemania to Bolton.

The Pretend Beatles, four men hailing from Liverpool and Leeds, will have it in abundance as they take to the stage at Moses Gate in Farnworth tomorrow evening.

The band, featuring Rich Gibson (George), Steve Hunter (John), Neil Lowe (Ringo), and Fin Keating (Paul), will play two sets of the Liverpool band’s best hits, along with some lesser-played songs — bringing with it plenty of '60s nostalgia.

The band not only look like the Fab Four — they pride themselves on their musicianship, emulating their heroes’ sound down to their harmonies and guitar solos.

People can expect more than 30 songs from the band’s back catalogue off all their albums, spanning from Please Please Me to Let It Be.

Rich, aged 46, said: “We’re all really looking forward to playing in Bolton. We’re the only ones on the bill so the people who come are there just to see us – and many are likely to be die-hard Beatles fans, so we will be playing a big mix of songs for the crowd.

“If I was to watch a tribute band I would like a few surprises thrown in, so as well as doing all the hits such as Help and I Want to Hold Your Hand, we also do some of the album songs that don’t get played as much, like While My Guitar Gently Weeps and You’re Going to Lose That Girl — just to mix it up a bit.”

The band started in 2012 after the like-minded musicians decided to put together a note-perfect tribute act to the greatest rock and roll band in the world.

Rich said: “We’d all been in various other bands over the years, and Steve had played John in another tribute act before. But rather than just emulating The Beatles’ look, we decided we wanted to sound like them too. So all the solos, harmonies and drum beats you hear in their records you will hear from us onstage.

“Of course we are big Beatles fans, but I didn’t actually start playing their music properly until I joined this band. I’m happy that I play the part of George who was the quiet, understated member. With John’s part you need a particular type of voice, and Steve has that.

“It’s our priority to give people a musical experience that is as close to the records as possible. We do dress up too, but we are more about their music.”
