Band name: The Deadbeats

Members names, age and where they are from:

We are a four piece punk covers band. Our drummer is called Simon Pratt. He used to be in a Wigan-based punk band called Kanada Kommando and he is a 50-year-old nice guy from St Helens.

The guitar player, Adam Lazenby, is the baby of the band at 25. He's from Scunthorpe originally but now resides in Manchester.

What he doesn't know about punk ain't worth knowing.

Our bassist, James 'Manni' Mansfield, is 47-years-old and the ex bass player for Desolation Row. He hails from Bury. He is quiet and reserved off-stage. Martyn 'Binxy' Binks is the lead singer. He has been in local bands Strangeways, Vacant Strangers and Crash Course. He is 47 and lives in Bolton.

When and where did you form?

We formed around six months ago when the bands we were in simultaneously disintegrated. Binxy knew Simon by way of a mutual friend (Bolton poet, Jefferama) and Adam was in Crash Course (Binxy's previous band). Manni was recruited via the internet.

What is your sound and who are your influences?

Our sound is loud and powerful. Our influences include The Sex Pistols, Johnny Thunders, Rancid, Green Day, The Clash, etc....

What is the biggest gig you have played to date?

The biggest gig we've played to date was at The Talbot in Burnley at the end of November last. They're mad for the punk up there and the venue was packed to the rafters. We play there again later in the year.

If you are not already, is it your ambition to become professional?

Given our ages, I think it's a bit late in the day to turn pro. We're just happy having a laugh playing the songs we grew up with. Except Adam, who grew up with acid house lol.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Broadmoor, he he

Is there anything unusual or interesting about the band?

One interesting fact about us is that around three years ago we all attended the same punk gig in Chorley to 'celebrate' the Golden Jubilee but never met.

Upcoming gigs?

Upcoming gigs for us are The Hulton Arms on Saturday and The Man and Scythe, on February 14. Later in the year, we play in Bury, Fleetwood, Manchester and Blackburn amongst others.
