HISTORY meets harmonies as a Bolton landmark opens its doors for a day of live music.

Rivington Hall Barn is hoping to attract hundreds of visitors on Sunday.

The grounds of the Grade II listed building will be become a temporary concert venue for the day.

Singers and entertainers will be performing as part of a big fundraising event for Bolton Hospice.

Manager Matthew Salmon said: "This is the first event we have held in aid of the hospice.

"We have always welcomed people from the hospice as a place to host lots of their events and for others to raise funds on its behalf but this time we decided to fundraise. We are going to try and raise as much money as possible on the day.

"The idea is to get the public really involved with a stage and live music all afternoon.

"It is about making some fun and entertaining for the whole family. We just hope the weather is okay and we get a good turn out of hundreds of people.

"The hall is open to the public on Sunday and we thought it was a great time to do something outside which is free of charge and try to collect as much as possible for the charity."

Events start at noon on the lawn in front of the hall, where a stage has been installed and will feature music from singers Brian Hobbs, from Chorley, Bolton's Tommy Govan, Cheshire band Groovy Revolution and guitarist Danny P.

Running until 5pm, there will also be a DJ, stilt walkers, children's entertainment including inflatable slide, hog roast, coffee bar, Rivington Ales, hog roast, Gin & Prosecco bar, BBQ and Frederick's Ice Cream.

The event is free to attend throughout the day. To find out more call Rivington Hall Barn on 01204 697738 or email info@rivingtonhallbarn.co.uk.
