TWO big bands will be delighting jazz fans this weekend.

Both Bolton musicians and audiences are getting in on the act to see October out with style.

On Sunday one of the North West’s top jazz and blues acts The Gelatos will brighten up the Harvey’s Café Bar.

A high energy, close harmony, multi instrumental trio recreating dance hall music of the 40s and 50s, between them The Gelatos have a wealth of musical experience.

Bassists and vocalist Peter Peter Riley and saxophonist and vocalist Siena Lloyd are members of western swing band The Swing Commanders, while Bex, vocalist and on the keyboard, is a composer and musical director for Theatre companies including the Bolton Octagon and Northern Broadsides.

Catch them in the Mawdsley Street bar from 8.15pm. Tickets cost £6 in advance from www.livefromworktown.org or Harvey's or £8 on the door from 7.30pm.

Meanwhile Wigan Jazz Club is welcoming back one of the Bolton's leading jazz orchestras The Managers Big Band.

The 19 piece orchestra formed in 2006 will be featuring music from the libraries of the big bands like Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Les Brown plus the music of Frank Sinatra and more.

The concert takes place at the Whelley Ex-Serviceman's Club in Wigan from 12.30 pm. Tickets start at £11 and are available at www.wiganjazzclub.co.uk or on the door.
