ARCADE Fire have announced that they are to play a series of huge UK shows at the end of this year.
The chart topping band, whose latest album was hailed by Zane Lowe as “one of the greatest albums of the last decade, maybe of all time”, will play London’s O2 Arena on December 1, followed by dates in Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow.
They will play Manchester Central on December 11.
Arcade Fire’s third studio album, The Suburbs, debuted at number one in the UK, Ireland and Norway, number two in the US and in the top five in Germany, Denmark and Holland.
The Canadian band recently played New York's Madison Square Garden, and produced a live stream on YouTube, directed by filmmaker Terry Gilliam, which received over 1.8 million views worldwide.
Playing an intimate gig at London's Hackney Empire last month, Arcade Fire garnered rave reviews ahead of their headline slot at Reading and Leeds later this month.
Tickets for the December UK dates cost £28.50 and go on sale at 9am on Friday.
