SOUTH London duo Turin Brakes have announced a UK tour this September and October to support the release of their fourth album, Dark On Fire.

The album will be released on Monday, September 17, and the band will play Manchester University on Tuesday, October 2.

Dark on Fire was recorded with the help of the Turin Brakes on-the-road band, who have never before appeared on an album.

"It's epic," says the album's producer Ethan Johns, the man responsible for putting the production fire into albums by acts ranging from Kings Of Leon to Ray LaMontagne. "It's a beautiful record with a lot of intent.

"They're writing about stuff that's important to them - really honest material - and it comes through. I think we have captured some extraordinarily truthful performances."

Olly Knights, one half of the band, says: "Ethan was really firm about keeping the live essence of the performances.

"We're perfectionists by nature, and sometimes we'd be in the corner of the room, quietly seething, because we wanted to fix something. But we knew that he was probably right. And when we heard it all back at the end it was a wonderful moment. It really does sound like a band clawing away to get at the truth of the songs."

The first single from the album will be Stalker, released on September 10.

Gale Paridjanian, the other half of the band, says: "Being in a band puts you on the fringes of that world. You're seeking attention for your music. But to do that you're almost saying Please stalk us - but only so far, and then you must stop'."

Tickets for the Manchester University show cost £16 and are available from www.gigsandtours, or by ringing 0871 2200 260.
