Genesis - When in Rome 2007. DVD

The long awaited DVD of Genesis' triumphant return to the concert stage is finally here - and it was worth the wait!

This 3 disc DVD features over 5 hours of material shot during the band's hugely successful 2007 tour. The European leg of the tour ended with a show at Rome's Circo Massimo in front of 500,000 fans, and it's captured here, as directed by David Mallet, in all its' glory.

The first two discs contain the concert itself. Running at just over 2 hours, it's a full-on experience. The sheer spectacle of the largest screen ever used at a concert at 64 metres with all the backdrop and lighting effects we have come to expect from a band like Genesis.

However, it's the music we're after, and we certainly get it! Classics from start to finish; you name it and it's here. All the hits and concert favourites from throughout the bands' illustrious career. Firth of Fifth', Ripples' and Carpet Crawlers' jostle with "newer" tracks such as Mama', Land of Confusion', Invisible Touch' and I Can't Dance'.

The instrumental passages, especially in Home By The Sea' are sublime and the drum duet between Phil Collins and live stalwart Chester Thompson is just mind blowing.

The extras are as good as the concert itself! There's an extra for each song, and they add up to over an hour. There's also photo galleries and deleted scenes. Plus, the third disc is a documentary film, running at just under two hours. This is a fly-on-the-wall documentary covering the whole tour, from the initial planning stages to life on the road during the tour.

If you didn't actually make it to the tour itself, this DVD shows exactly what you missed. If you were lucky enough to experience the tour, this will take you back to that night.

As live DVD's go. This won't be beaten!
